Because they have braille on them.
Now, my university has a very good record with disability services, and a fairly high disabled population. But the use of braille on vending machine buttons I believe is a step to far... because it's ridiculous. If the machine also came equipped with a braille map, or a braille key saying A4 = maltesers or something then that would be fantastic. But as it doesn't have that then it's just marginally cruel lucky dip... what's the point in having braille for the buttons if they don't know what they correspond to! More thought should have gone into this people!
